I’ve been a member since the inception! While I turned down an early invitation to be on the board, I did end up joining the board a few years later and serving as grants chair. It was hard work but a great learning experience. Seeing all the passion in our organization and in the community was so inspiring!

I’ve been philanthropically minded for most of my adult life and Sunday’s Child was perfect on so many levels! The mission, the vision, the structure, being able to learn about and support the good works being done in our community ... I’ve never had a moment’s regret!

I believe in the Mission and the Vision of Sunday’s Child.

We have achieved so much already... and I just want to see that continue. With the size of our grant awards we offer a sweet spot for smaller organizations that are seeking to grow their good works. I want us to continue at or over current membership level, recruiting more of our community and allies alike. I would like to see yearly community educational programs (like the two workshops we have done.). Participation in other events like the FooFoo and Connecting the Dots are also good to increase name recognition since our name is often confusing to people who either don’t make the LGBT connection or think we focus on children. Let’s continue to spotlight our recipients so they continue to benefit from their association with us and will spread the word as well. Every ripple we make has the potential to become a wave as it touches more people.

In 2015, while volunteering at Manna Food Bank, I met two incredible women who were members, and later, Board members of Sunday's Child. In 2017, I became a member myself after hearing wonderful things about the organization, its mission, and the people who were involved.
Volunteering on the membership committee and helping out at membership mixers led to my joining the focus groups. Reviewing grants and going on-site visits is how I learned the workings of Sunday's Child.
I am now a proud Board member and can't imagine a better group of people to be associated with.

The mission of investing in inclusion and diversity is most attractive. The organization had me at "inclusion," but the idea of advancing equality while raising money to give back to others in need resonated with me.

The most critical work that Sunday's Child does is showing the public that the LGBTQ+ community is no different than anyone else. We are loving, kind individuals who make significant contributions to society. We are all equal.

I'm very proud of Sunday's Child for adapting to the circumstances of COVID. The organization continues to award grants, even though a whole new method of achieving that goal had to be reformatted. Our Grants Committee made it happen and it went very well.

I am hopeful that our membership will grow so that we will be able to award more or larger grants. I am confident that I will meet even more like-minded people who live with a desire to help others who may be less fortunate.

Who cannot be for equality and fairness for all people? I have been a member of the ACLU for years and we have always supported the Constitutional rights of the LGBTQ+ community. The most important work that Sunday’s Child does is its funding for non-profits and its visibility in promoting LGBTQ rights.

I hope in the short run that Sunday's Child will add to its membership so that it can provide larger grants to more non-profits. In the long run I hope that Sunday's Child accomplishes it mission and has its vision fulfilled.
